Harper Recruits Public Service to Campaign Efforts
From September 1, 2008
The Prime Minister's Office has ordered all ministerial offices to write up material that can be used to defend the Conservatives' record from opposition attack during the campaign.
This is a waste of taxpayer money.
Harper's Government doesn't have a record worth defending.
But if Harper wants to try, he should use his own paid campaign staff. That's just the way democracies work. He should not squander the time and resources of Canada's public service on some quixotic quest to make himself look good. He owes at least that much to the Canadian people who elected him once.
